We celebrated our 20 years of successful growth.

November 22, 2017 By Tom Kanoza

On Friday, November 17th, 2017; we celebrated our 20 years of successful growth. We also raised awareness for those who most need our support; grieving teens and children. Thursday, November 16, was Children’s Grief Awareness Day.

It was an honor to present Dr. Dan Nelson, Dr. Sharon Phillips and Chesterwood Village Hillandale Family Healing Hearts Residents Cathy Howard, Shannon Bryant, Don Devore, Doyce Schleusener, Ginny Elrod, and Mary Lou Benson with our Hope, Strength and Healing Award at the Savannah Cent in West Chester Ohio. We thank all of you for truly making a difference.

We also want to recognize several organizations that have supported COJ, some from the beginning. These are our Companions of Hope for 2017. St. Maximilian Kolbe Church, Children's Hospital Medical Center, Community Foundation of WCL, Envisions Partnership, Spring Grove Funeral Homes, and Indiana Wesleyan University.

This year, the COJ organization has over 35 support groups during the school day working with 600+ students a month through their graduation. In the year prior, COJ assisted over 4,000 bereaved children, teens and adults throughout the Greater Cincinnati / Northern Kentucky area without state or federal funding. COJ does not charge for its service.

The evening began with cocktails, followed by an elegant dinner of filet or salmon. The award presentations took place after dinner ending with music and dancing provided by “The Remains” band. Everyone in attendance had a fabulous time!

The words spoken by Liz Pieniazek were heartfelt and inspiring as she talked about here Journey of Grief

Tay Shawn Elliott ended the memorial and awards presentation with a beautiful rendition of the Righteous Brothers - Unchained Melody (from the 'Ghost' Soundtrack).

Phillip Bryant also share how important COJ has been in his Life as he continues to support COJ

The “All Star Gala” could not have been a success without the help of many individuals and sponsors.
