2015 All Star Gala
Companions on a Journey (COJ) held its All Star Gala November 14th, at the Downtown Regency Hotel.
COJ celebrated 18 years of successful growth and bestowed an inspirational vision for our future. Most important, COJ wanted to give praise to God and the “All Stars of our Lives”, memorializing those who are not able to be with us here, and applauding those who help propel us forward in the wake of a loss. Finally, COJ raised awareness for those who most need our support, grieving teens and children. On Thursday, November 19th is Children’s Grief Awareness Day.
Those attending were treated to an All Star banquet of Filet, or Salmon, along games, auctions, and raffles. The evening continued with dancing by the music group, THE REMAINS. The place was packed at closing time.
Sheila presented the coveted Hope, Strength and Healing Award to Jan Borgman, Linda Richey and Cathy Douglas-Penn. COJ thanks these individuals for truly making a difference, and for recognizing the needs of grieving children, teens, and adults in our community. Ultimately, assisting them during life’s crises. COJ thanked each of these incredible women for supporting Companions on a Journey.
This year, the COJ organization is assisting 24 schools by working with 400 students each month; following the students through their graduation. In the year prior, COJ assisted over 4,000 bereaved children, teens and adults throughout the Greater Cincinnati / Northern Kentucky area without state or federal funding. COJ does not charge for its service.
On behalf of our organization, COJ wants to thank each of its volunteers for giving of their time, talents and treasure. Each of these individuals are blessed gifts to those whom we serve. This enables COJ to provide our services to the bereaved at no cost.
A special Thank-you to our Emcee Tim Masa, Group Vice President of Human Resources and Labor Relations at The Kroger Company. Tim believes in our cause and has donated his time to be with us this evening.
We also would like to thank those teens who have made this evening extra special, Lakota Jazz Band Members, James Leonard, Kayla Milton, Gracie Groene, Olivia Viox, Max Adarve, Danny Keating, Austin, Caitlyn and Allison Damon, Zack Burpee.
We deeply appreciate your financial support and the support of our community. God bless you and thank you for joining us this evening.
COJ gives a special Thanks to Our Gracious Sponsors, whom without there gift would not have made the Gala Possible.
