On Saturday, October 19th, 2013 five young men received the Companions on a Journey Hope, Strength, & Healing Award at COJ’s 2nd annual “Puttin' on the Glitz” Gala.
The evening began with cocktails, followed by an elegant dinner of filet or salmon. The award presentations took place after dinner ending with music and dancing provided by “The Remains” band. Everyone in attendance had a fabulous time!
The six individuals receiving awards were five men from Cincinnati Moeller High School and John Faherty for his Cincinnati Enquirer article about the grief process these boys shared. The Honorees were Phillip Bryant, Andrew Kraus, Zack Deck, William and Chuck Smallwood. John's article was “The Rules of Grieving -They are Still Boys” which appeared in the Sunday, June 9, 2013, newspaper edition.
The words spoken were heartfelt and absolutely inspiring as the boys shared, once again, their journey of healing after the loss of one or even both of their parents.
